Tilting is a feature seen in MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. When the player's vehicle begins to lean to one side, either in midair or on the ground, the player can tilt the PlayStation controller to the opposite side the car is tilting, this will cause the car to upright itself. Tilting's usefullness varies between classes, for example, Rally Cars are much more keen to upright themselves than Monster Trucks. Bikes and, to a lesser extent, ATVs are completely unable to upright themselves. Tilting will not occur when the vehicle has rotated more than 85 degrees either way, nor will it occur when upside down. The vehicle itself can be tilted forward, backward, left, and right.
The analog stick on the controller can also be used to tilt the vehicle forward and backward, but it cannot be used to tilt it to the left or right.
