The Mudpool

When rain and gas mix with the dust of the desert, an ancient riverbed turns into a dangerous gorge of unpredictable carnage. Definitely a favourite for the bigger vehicles. Pity the biker who takes a dip.

The Mudpool is a track in MotorStorm. As the name suggests, it is covered with sticky, slippery pools of mud. Only the Mud Pluggers and Big Rigs favour mud, whereas the rest of the vehicles are prone to slipping and sliding.

"Mucked Up" - Big Rigs - "Always remember what surface your vehicle likes best. Watch where your rivals go - if they're in the same vehicle, follow them!"
"Super Star" - Mudpluggers - "Mudpluggers are the biggest of the automobiles - big wheels and heavy-duty suspension mean they can cope with even the worst terrain. They're fast, but don't drag-race a Rally Car."
"Contraband" - Big Rigs - "Five reasons why the Big Rigs rock: 1, you can hurt anyone else on the track; 2, they love mud; 3, you can smash your way through the obstacles; 4, they have cool horns; 5, you can listen to country music whilst butchering hitchhikers."
"The Chase" - Bikes - "Mudpool has a few sneaky little routes to keep out of the mud - watch the other riders and don't be ashamed to copy. Then flip 'em the bird as you overtake."
"Tailgater" - Mudpluggers - "Look, you're in a Mudplugger, and you're racing on Mudpool. It's a perfect match and you've done it before - so stop crying and win. Does this help?"
"Buckle Up" - Buggies - "Mud, and lots of it. Don't think you can escape it, don't try and drive around it. Embrace the mud. Your Buggy is gonna slide like a snake in a monsoon, but that's entirely the point."
"Mudflaps" - Buggies - "You're up against 14 Buggies - so you have no vehicle advantage, and need to negotiate a mud-filled stage. It's getting tougher, in case you didn't notice!"
"Dirty Protest" - Bikes - "This is the penultimate race on the Mudpool, and you're in a vehicle that hates mud, so it won't be easy. For those of you who've travelled from Arkansas, penultimate means 'second to last'."
"Risk" - Mudpluggers - "The Mudplugger on the Mudpool - once again it's a match made in a MotorStorm heaven, so don't be afraid to take the plunge. Use your advanced skills to force the ATVs through the mud to slow them down. Take care that the Big Rigs don't team up on you. If you find yourself surrounded, boost ahead of the pack."

Revenge Weekend Event[]

"Too Much Mud" - Rally Cars - "Something old, something new - an all-Rally race on the Mudpool. Try not to listen to that voice at the back of your mind that keeps reminding you that there's a good reason why Rally Cars were always outlawed on Mudpool... Your main worry here is that fine line between using your boost to gain traction, and misusing your boost to put yourself in traction. Paramedics are standing by..."

Devil's Weekend Event[]

"Sinking Down" - Bikes - "The Devil went to Utah, legend tells. Went down to Utah, sprinkled graveyard dirt on the filthy ground from his conjure bag, and created a world of bedlam, carnage and pain. There are those who say this very spot became the eventual site for Mudpool. But that's probably just a ghost story they tell newbie MotorStormers around the festival campfires late at night. Probably..."

Trivia[]

During the Revenge Weekend, the race "Too Much Mud" brings Rally Cars to the track for the first time; like the other lightweight vehicle classes, they struggle with the muddiest sections of the track, so the mud must be avoided at all times. However, the Italia Gagliano is a wise vehicle choice as, unlike most Rally Cars, the Gagliano can traverse through thick mud with relative ease.
Two events called "The Chase" and "Dirty Protest" features all but one of the vehicles being Bikes; which is a Nörd Viking.
This track is the first of three mud-based tracks in the MotorStorm franchise, the others being Mudslide and Mud Bowl.
