The PlayStation 2, abbreviated as the PS2, is the second console in the PlayStation series from Sony, originally released in 2000. It is the best-selling home games console in history, having sold over 150 million units as of November 2011.
After 13 years, in January 2013, production of the PS2 ended, making it the second-longest-lived console behind the Atari 2600.
