Concept art

The iconic Rally Car is revved up for some serious action with a new spellbinding look. This 4x4 has some hustle behind its muscle. From a standing start, it can blow opponents away and its superb traction means taking tricky corners is a breeze. Boasting a strong suspension and superior braking power, this dominant racer’s a favourite for fans of the handbrake turn. Featuring a full set of customisable swap parts and eye-catching Ink designs, which can be transferred to other vehicles, this Rally Car is also available in the downloadable Prestige Pack – a trio of eye-catching machines designed to outshine the opposition.

- PlayStation Store description

The Mirage 401 is a Rally Car that is featured in MotorStorm: Apocalypse and MotorStorm RC.

Unlocking[]

MotorStorm: Apocalypse[]

The 401 was featured as a Carbon Edition model in the Carbon Pack pre-order incentive; it cannot be customized. The vanilla non-carbon edition of the vehicle was later added to the game as part of the Prestige Pack[1]; this fully customisable version was also sold separately[2].

MotorStorm RC[]

The 401 was added to MotorStorm RC as part of the RC Carnival Expansion Pack.

Resemblance[]

The 401's appearance seems to be inspired by modern stage rally cars in the Super 2000 and World Rally Car categories. It also bears some light resemblance to the Citroen DS3 with a little bit of the Volkswagen Scirocco in there as well.

Trivia[]

  • At first glimpse, the 401 may simply appear to be an enlarged Mirage 101. However, its customization options already give it a vastly different aesthetic from the aforementioned SuperMini.
  • This is one of the few vehicles in the MotorStorm series not to appear in any original game, and only as DLC.
  • The 401 is one of the few vehicles in the MotorStorm series to have a digital tachometer, another being the Monarch Vestige-R.
  • The 401, along with multiple other MotorStorm vehicles, makes a brief cameo in WipEout 2048's intro sequence. They appear in the background traffic of the "2025" scene[3].
  • The 401 appears as a purchasable premium PlayStation Network avatar.
  • The 401 is featured in the artwork of the "Rally Car" Festival Card (#111), even prior to its appearance as a DLC vehicle.
