The Humbler Diablo is a Buggy that was added to MotorStorm as part of the Devil's Weekend DLC, and would later appear on-disc in MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. It would return in MotorStorm RC, as part of the Elite Off-Road DLC.

Unlocking[]

MotorStorm[]

"Summon the Devil's Advocate and take his ride!"

A single Diablo appears in every race of the Devil's Weekend expansion pack; once a Gold medal has been achieved in all Devil's Weekend events, the Head Cut Duel is revealed, a final race in which the player is restricted to using a bike and must defeat this "Devil's Advocate" Diablo one-on-one. Winning this midnight faceoff unlocks the Diablo for use by the player.

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift[]

The Diablo is unlocked by reaching Rank 5 in the Festival.

Trivia[]

  • "Diablo" is Spanish for "Devil".
  • The Diablo resembles armoured buggies seen in the Mad Max film series. It may take its closed-wheel design from the 1948 Tasco Prototype.
  • The Diablo in MotorStorm has three notable sound differences when compared to other buggies: the exhaust note heavily resembles that of an alcohol fed V8 rather than a flat four, making this buggy sound somewhat akin to that of Monster Trucks; the horn is taken from a Big Rig; and a noticeably high-pitched noise can be heard while boosting. These unique differences do not carry over to Pacific Rift.
  • In post-race results, the "Devil's Advocate" Diablo is identified as "Jack Butler", a black-suited AI driver; they use a matte black livery with a single red star ahead of each rear wheel.
    • This makes it the only DLC vehicle in the game that is driven by AI.
  • It is one of three vehicle manufacturers that produces only one vehicle, the others being Wakazashi and McQueen.
    • The same three manufacturers are missing from the list of stickers in Apocalypse.
  • Like all other DLC vehicles from MotorStorm, it is one of the few vehicles in Pacific Rift that doesn't carry any liveries over from the original game.
  • In Pacific Rift, Oscar Gratz (beige livery), Travis Ryan (black/red "Slick" livery) and Dmitri Molotov (blue/grey "Ignitro" livery) are the AI Characters seen driving this vehicle.
